READING: Making It Happen!!

Every two weeks on minimum days (Fridays) students have the opportunity to have a free dress day. It is very simple:

1. Students have two weeks to complete the reading, and take the quizzes no later than Wednesday prior to the free dress day.
2. If the student’s reading level is lower than 4.5 on AR (Accelerated Reader), he/she has to read 3 books, pass the quizzes with 100%.
3. If the student’s reading level is higher than 4.9, then he/she has to read only 1, pass the quiz with 100%.
4. Once students pass the quizzes, they can obtain a wristband from the library, and wear it on the designated date.
5. Quizzes can only be taken during school hours at the library every morning from 7:45 to 8:10, during lunchtime, and afterschool from 3:15 to 4:30 every day except Fridays. Students can also ask their teachers if they can use the computers in the classrooms.

Reading Contest

Read 12 books in four months, take AR quizzes, and receive a pizza party invitation and an engraved medal!

-Students who read a minimum of 6 books will be invited to the pizza party. (Does not include picture books)

-All students who read a minimum of five books will qualify to win prizes including free meals from Carls Jr.

How does it work?

Sign-up at the library!

1) Read a contest book.

2) Take and pass the corresponding AR quiz. All contest books have a quiz available. You must pass the quiz to get credit. If you fail, you may not retake it.

3) Verify that you are receiving credit by consulting the official participation list that is posted on the bottom of this page.

4) Earn a Free Dress Day every time you pass a quiz with a 100%.

5) If you have any questions, see the librarian.
